At The Blinds Gallery, we are dedicated to providing our customers with quality, sustainable, eco-friendly products for the home. Environmentally-friendly window coverings 

At The Blinds Gallery, we’re committed to creating a more environmentally friendly range of products and part of that commitment is working with manufacturers who share our values! Our window coverings are made from quality sustainable fabrics from brands with a demonstrated commitment to finding greener solutions.

Maurice Kain is one of our fabric manufacturers and one of the most well-established and respected wholesale manufacturers of decorator fabrics in Australia. We stock a selection of their fabrics which are made from 100% recycle polyester. What is recycled polyester? Recycled polyester yarns are made from post-consumer PET plastics, such as plastic bottles. Each metre of recycled polyester fabric contains around 81 one litre plastic bottles which have been recycled. This reduced the demand for new plastic products and reduces the amount of PET products entering landfill (with each plastic bottle taking roughly 500 years to break down). It’s a product that both looks stylish and significantly reduces your carbon footprint!

Many of our products are also available in Wilson Fabrics which is an Australian owned company that produces quality drapery fabrics. The brand is Greenguard accredited, which means that they are certified as a low carbon emitter and a creator of products that contribute to improved indoor air quality.

We also work with Textstyle which turns recycled materials into a wide variety of textiles. Textstyle supports the Global Recycle Standard which aims to increase the use of sustainable, recycled materials in furniture and interior design products. Textstyles recycling process begins in China where plastic waste is collected, cleaned and broken down into particles. The particles are then sorted by quality and class and taken to a yarn mill where they are turned into plastic pellets which are then melted and converted into yarn. Texstyle produces a range of 10 recycled plastic upholstery products which comply with commercial standards.

What to consider when choosing environmentally friendly blinds or curtains
