Celebrating 30 Years of

The Blinds Gallery

In 1996, The Blinds Gallery began as a small local business in Malaga. It was built on a simple promise: to provide quality window furnishings with genuine, personalised service. Over the years, it grew steadily, moving to Carlisle in 2005 and then to Burswood in 2009. With a small, dedicated team, the foundations were laid for something much bigger.

Everything changed for me in 2011.

At the time, I was a new dad in my early 30s. I stepped into The Blinds Gallery with a clear vision and a lifetime of industry experience behind me. Having grown up in a family deeply involved in window treatments, I’d spent my childhood in showrooms and factories, developing a hands-on understanding of the trade.

What began as school holiday work for me eventually evolved into a full-time apprenticeship in blinds manufacturing and machinery. I went on to qualify as a fitter and turner, later completing a business qualification and working my way up to become a Regional Sales Manager. But I knew I wanted to build something of my own.

When I discovered The Blinds Gallery, I felt an instant connection - not just to what the business was, but to what I knew it could become. In 2011, I purchased the company. All six staff members chose to stay on with me, a testament to the strong culture that I’m proud to say still defines us today.

The Early Days

The beginning wasn’t easy. That first year brought long days, late nights, and constant problem-solving. My wife has worked alongside me from day one, and we still remember sitting in the office together, waiting for the phone to ring, sometimes for hours.

Determined to change that, we made a bold decision to invest heavily in advertising and turn The Blinds Gallery into a household name. With the guidance and support of my father, Tass - a highly respected, now-retired industry veteran, we backed our vision.

Slowly, things began to shift:

  • The phone started ringing.

  • The work started flowing.

  • The team started growing.

The early days

Expansion and Quality

By 2012, we had outgrown our space. We moved to a larger premises in Landsdale, establishing our head office, showroom, and main manufacturing facility. This expansion was vital, it allowed us greater control over our product range and quality.

The growth didn't stop there. We opened a second showroom in Cockburn in 2013 to better serve all of Perth. In 2015, we expanded into Gnangara, where we now proudly manufacture our outdoor products, louvered aluminium, and external shutters.

Our Greatest Asset: People

Today, The Blinds Gallery is home to a team of 88 incredible people. We’ve become a leading name in Western Australia, but beyond the factories and the showrooms, it’s the people behind the scenes who matter most. Some of our team members have been with us for over 26 years; that kind of loyalty and shared purpose is the heartbeat of this company.

Now, the story has come full circle. My own son, now 16, has started working in the factory during his school holidays, learning the ropes the exact same way I did. It’s a constant reminder that while we’ve grown significantly, our heart remains unchanged. From one generation to the next, we are still built on experience, passion, and family.

As we celebrate 30 years, I’m not just looking back at how far we’ve come, I’m looking forward to the next chapter we’ll write together.
